               1997 Gemini Reunion Report

Another U. S. Space Walk of Fame milestone was accomplished on November 7, 1997 when astronaut John Young dedicated the Gemini Monument on the scheduled date which had been established three years previous.

Approximately 150 people attended the dedication which was covered by CBS Television and other local news media.

The monument stood TALL, PROUD and PAID FOR thanks to SandMeyer Steel, American Needle Company and the 227 American Space Workers who had the faith we would create something worthy of putting their prepaid names on.

Acknowledgment of other supporters and contributors while worthy of mention are just too numerous to name. But, we are truly appreciative of all the aerospace companies and local business who's efforts also helped make the Gemini Monument a reality.

On Friday night at the Raddision Resort Center in Cocoa Beach over 400 Space Workers and their guest enjoyed prime rib or salmon with all the trimmings while listening to guest speaker John Yardley of McDonnell Gemini Spacecraft Fame tell about skiing with the Gemini astronauts and breaking a few training rules.

The reunion was concluded on Saturday with an all day Barbecue Picnic were Gemini Veterans and their guest renewed old friendships and shared nostalgic memories of days long past.

Accordingly , The 1997 Gemini Monument Dedication and Space Workers Reunion is hereby deemed a TOTAL SUCCESS.
