The U. S. Space Walk of Fame and Gemini

The Gemini Monument was completed and dedicated on
November 7, 1997

   The Gemini Logo is constructed from stainless steel and
stands 12' high X 8' Wide. It is mounted on a 9' tall black granite base which is 13' X 7'. The logo mounting legs are 16" tall which provides a total monument height of 22'-4"



The U. S. Space Walk of Fame Foundation shall forever be grateful to Sandmeyer Steel of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who as they did with the Mercury Monument donated the complete cost of the stainless steel monument which is estimated to be around $40,000.00.The U. S. Space Walk of Fame Foundation also expresses their sincere appreciation to the American Needle Company for their continued support and generous donation of Gemini Caps which provided a major contribution to the successful completion and dedication of the Gemini Monument.The American Space Workers whose names appear on the Gemini Monument can be proud that it can be considered they themselves paid for the black granite base which cost in excess of $35,000.00On dedication day November 7, 1997 - 227 Space Workers names had been engraved on the monument - 65 names were engraved on January 7, 1998 - 40 names were engraved on April 27, 1998 - 20 names were engraved on October 27, 1998 - 88 Names were engraved on March 11, 1999 - 37 Names were engraved on July 15, 1999 - 38 Names were engraved on April 18, 2000 for a grand total of 515.

Plans are in work and progress is being made by the city to commence construction of the side walk and plaza in the Gemini area.Having already obtained six sets of the Gemini Astronaut hand prints, the Foundation is in the process of obtaining the others and they along with the Mission and Profile Plaques will be installed when the city has completed the plaza.A Historical and Progression Record of the Gemini area of the
U. S. Space Walk of Fame may be obtained with these selections.
